Styling Ideas for Family Sessions

What should you wear to a family lifestyle session with Alec?
Your options are limitless. I know that may help even less. But what I recommend first to ALL my clients is to dress yourself in something you are comfortable in and FEEL like you in.
Now that can be a wide range of clothing. Some clients are in their pajamas when I show up and remain that way until I leave. But I would say 75% of my clients opt for casual outfits that highlight their personalities, but also allow them not to be distracted by what they are wearing while we are together.
A few more specific tips:
* Layers are magic - it could be entirely for warmth, but also a good vest or sweater can add a fun twist to your outfit
* Earthy and neutral tones all go together
* Patterns are great when paired with complimentary colors and solids
* Aim for Off prime colors... for example; instead of yellow, try burnt okra.
* Look in your closet first, seeing yourself in your favorite outfit years down the road will be a positive experience. Buying something new can be fun and absolutely necessary, but ask yourself... will you wear it again?
* Consider your location and background. Will you be in a green forest? Will you be at the beach with bright sunlight? Imagine your surroundings and play with contrasts.
Your clothing are not what makes the pictures. YOU and your family are the STARS of the show. Your children won't notice what you wore, only that you were THERE together. Family photographs are for you, for your children, and for their children. Most of my clients never post the photographs we create together to online forums. They don't need to. These images are for YOU and you alone.

I absolutely love helping my clients with their styling and outfit questions. I am here as your photographer for all things related to our session together. I often communicate with my clients about their outfits and color choices, and have even played a little dress up during sessions (at your homes).
